We investigate the fabrication tolerance of a long-period fiber grating (LPFG)-based mode-dependent loss (MDL) equalizer for 2-LP mode transmission using localized refractive index modulation with a femtosecond laser. We evaluate the impact of errors in the modulation radius and position on device characteristics, and demonstrate that both designs exhibit sufficient fabrication tolerance within the achievable precision of femtosecond laser processing.
