Building energy management often requires coordinated control of heterogeneous facilities such as lighting, HVAC, and blinds. However, different communication protocols and data formats increase the effort required for integrated operation and evaluation. This paper proposes a cross-device control architecture that provides unified Web APIs for facility control and data acquisition. Protocol-specific communications, including BACnet and Modbus, are translated into common Web APIs through protocol conversion gateways.
The proposed architecture was applied to an energy-saving demonstration in an office building. Scheduled control of lighting and HVAC systems, occupancy-based control using motion sensors, and comparative evaluation of HVAC operating conditions were conducted through the unified interface. As a result, control conditions could be modified without handling individual communication protocols. In addition, lighting energy consumption was reduced by approximately 10% compared with the same month of the previous year. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture for integrated facility management and energy-saving operation.
