In delay-sensitive communications, it is important to identify packets that are unlikely to arrive within their deadlines at an early stage during congestion and reflect this information in packet discarding or priority control. MTQ/QTL is a scheme that forwards or discards packets based on the maximum tolerable queuing delay (MTQ) at each switch and the remaining end-to-end queuing delay (QTL). DRR-MTQ/QTL classifies packets into multiple queues according to QTL and adjusts transmission opportunities using deficit round robin (DRR). However, with fixed thresholds, it is difficult to control the amount of traffic entering the Short-QTL queue according to changes in traffic load and allowable-delay distribution, and the performance depends on manual threshold configuration. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic queue classification control method that adjusts the classification threshold based on the observed allowable-delay distribution.
