For next-generation mobile communication (6G), the use of the sub-terahertz (Sub-THz) band (100–300 GHz) is being considered; however, waves in this band exhibit strong line-of-sight characteristics and are prone to obstruction by obstacles such as human bodies and trees in outdoor environments. While utilizing building-reflected paths as alternative communication channels is an effective countermeasure, scenarios where these reflected paths themselves are secondarily obstructed by tree trunks must also be anticipated. In this study, to quantitatively clarify this secondary obstruction effect, we measured the obstruction of building-reflected paths by tree trunks in the 154 GHz and 300 GHz bands and evaluated the obstruction effect by applying the Double Knife-Edge Diffraction (DKED) model to the reflected paths.
