Higher transmission speed and wider service area are required in mobile communication systems, and drone relay systems have been studied. However, power consumption increases because of signal amplification. Therefore, the use of an UAV equipped with a Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) has been considered. In this paper, we evaluate the effect of the RIS installation orientation on the communication performance of an RIS-equipped UAV and investigate the appropriate installation orientation. The evaluation results show that the horizontal installation provides higher average received power and greater deployment flexibility than the vertical installation.
