Using the data on rain attenuation and of Ku-band BS (11.84 GHz) radio wave rainfall rate measured over the past 30 years at Osaka Electro-Communication University (Neyagawa, Osaka), we investigated the time difference between their occurrence times and the cross-correlation between their fluctuation. Usually, rain attenuation occurring on the propagation path in the higher altitude is measured on the ground about 9 minutes earlier at most, but when their 10-minute average values are used, the two measurements are shown to agree well, enabling highly accurate estimation of rain attenuation from rainfall rate.
