As transmission rates per optical wavelength increase, securing sufficient transmission performance margin is becoming increasingly difficult. In particular, in L-band transmission over dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF), margin design must take fiber nonlinear interference (NLI) into account. However, conventional conservative operator design may lead to excessive margin allocation.
This paper proposes a transmission design method that incorporates output power optimization and correction of nonlinear impairment evaluation based on chromatic dispersion measurement. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed through a first-order approximation based on the GN model.
