This study proposes a popularity-aware cache search scheme for distributed cache discovery in Information-Centric Networking (ICN). In conventional distributed cache search methods, the same search range is applied to all contents, resulting in unnecessary search overhead for highly popular contents that are likely to be cached near users. To address this issue, the proposed scheme classifies contents into multiple popularity classes and assigns different search ranges to each class according to its popularity. By limiting the search range for highly popular contents, the proposed method aims to reduce overhead while maintaining retrieval efficiency. Simulation results using ns-3 demonstrate that the proposed scheme successfully reduces search overhead without degrading retrieval performance. Furthermore, the results show that a finer-grained classification of content popularity leads to greater overhead reduction.
