After 3GPP Release-17, 5GC and EPC has evolved to a core network that can accomodate various types of access methods (e.g. cellular, satellite). Each access method has its latency and throughput characteristics and there are services suitable for each method.
Having an independent core network for each access method may be possible. However, for a small scale deployment may not be the most efficient or ecomomic option.
This paper focus on voice services and takes a deep dive on how single core network can accomodate multiple access methods.
