[B-8-17]An Underground Communication Experiment Using an Ultra-Narrowband Communication Method

In extreme environments such as underneath rubble and in underground spaces, propagation loss is significant, necessitating the securing of a sufficient signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). In this study, we focused on an ultra-narrowband communication method employing FT8 and conducted communication experiments with an underground space using multiple frequency bands ranging from 7 to 430 MHz. As a result, it was confirmed that communication generally became impossible below the theoretically determined cutoff frequency, and the received S/N tended to increase at locations closer to the opening. The results of this experiment indicated that higher frequency bands are more advantageous for securing a sufficient received S/N.
