This talk discusses next-generation ICT infrastructure for the Physical AI era, in which AI acts on real-world systems such as robots, facilities, vehicles and buildings. It views Hokkaido as a region where AI data centers, renewable energy, semiconductor-related foundations and wide-area networks converge, and explores its potential to evolve into an AI Factory. Starting with the Tomakomai AI data center, the talk outlines SoftBank’s initiatives including AI-RAN, AITRAS, Infrinia AI Cloud OS and Telco AI Cloud, and examines how cloud, edge, radio access networks, computing and power infrastructure can be integrated. It also addresses model placement, edge-cloud workload sharing, digital twins, safety, security, resilience and standardization as key research themes for Physical AI.
