Toward the Beyond 5G/6G era, emerging wireless technologies such as AI-RAN, ISAC, and NTN are attracting significant attention. However, evaluating these technologies solely through real-world experiments is challenging because large-scale field trials require substantial cost and effort while offering limited reproducibility. Consequently, wireless digital twins, which reproduces real-world wireless environments in cyberspace for design, evaluation, and operation, is becoming increasingly important.

This paper discusses key challenges in realizing wireless digital twins and introduces the authors’ research activities centered on the 6G Platform (6GPF). The 6GPF integrates simulation, emulation, and real-system evaluation to enable continuous evaluation from radio propagation to network operation and control. In particular, wireless emulation technologies based on a wireless digital twin environment integrating ray tracing and communication systems, an OAI-based network simulator, channel emulators, and the utilization of NICT's Wireless Emulator are presented. Future challenges, including scalability, real-time operation, and model validation, are also discussed.
