Earthquakes can simultaneously trigger tsunamis and atmospheric disturbances, yet most existing simulations treat these phenomena separately—either modeling tsunamis or acoustic-gravity waves (AGWs) without coupling both processes. In this study, we develop a semi analytic method to efficiently simulate coupled tsunami and AGW excitation by an earthquake source in a stratified lithosphere, ocean, and atmosphere system. Our approach leverages surface harmonic vectors to transform the atmospheric, tsunami, and elastodynamic equations from the frequency and space to frequency and wavenumber domain. Wavefields are then computed using a global matrix method, incorporating boundary conditions and the source contribution, and transformed back to the time and space domain via the wavenumber integration and fast Fourier transform. Using this method, we investigate the characteristics of tsunami waves and AGWs generated by an earthquake source. The results show that the ocean’s presence influences atmospheric disturbances during marine earthquakes, a factor often neglected in prior studies. This model establishes a foundation for interpreting atmospheric signals as potential indicators of submarine seismic events.
