タンパク質合成(mRNA翻訳)は、細胞内で最もエネルギーを消費するプロセスであり、細胞の中心的かつ基本的なプロセスの1つである。mRNA翻訳とエネルギー代謝の調節は、ストレスに対する適応において中心的な役割を果たしており、機能不全に陥ると、がんや代謝性疾患を含む様々な病気・病態を引き起こすと考えられている。にもかかわらず、技術的な制約から、mRNA翻訳とエネルギー代謝の関係は未解明なままであった。本シンポジウムでは、生理学的および病理学的条件下におけるmRNA翻訳および代謝プログラムを制御する新たな分子機構に焦点を当て、これらの知見が疾患に対する新たな治療戦略となる可能性について議論する。
