The detection of alpha/beta contamination using remote equipment is important at decommissioning sites. Therefore, we developed an alpha/beta detector using a stilbene scintillator and a small silicon photomultiplier tube (SiPM), and the detector was combined with a small robot (Light Rover, Vstone Corp.). Output voltage waveforms from the detector were acquired by a digitizer (DT5730, CAEN Inc.). 241Am (alpha), 90Sr-90Y (beta), and thorium (alpha and beta) sources were measured respectively for evaluation. A support vector machine (SVM) was used for the classification of alpha and beta particles. We confirmed that the detectors combined with the robot can measure and classify alpha/beta particles. The classification accuracy was higher than the conventional method of using tail to total integral.
