Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) pressure drop and chemical compatibility with liquid lithium lead (LiPb) are important issues for development of liquid LiPb blanket of fusion reactors. Previous study indicated that α-Al2O3 layer formed on FeCrAl alloys according to oxidation treatment in air above 1273 K can function as MHD insulating- and corrosion-resistant layer. In present study, the abnormal oxides enriched in Cu and Zn from brass wire were locally detected in α-Al2O3 layer formed on the inner surface of APMT (Fe-22Cr-5Al-3Mo) tubes machined by wire electrical discharge machining. The abnormal oxides were metallurgically analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The Mitigation method of abnormal oxides is investigated.
