In-situ examination of electrical insulating performances under ion-beam irradiation has been started for ceramic coatings developed for liquid metal blanket systems by using the 250 keV deutron beam line of OKTAVIAN at Osaka University. While a Y2O3 coating sample has been irradiated up to approximately 10-1 dpa at 400-500 ℃ with the applied electrical field of 0.1 V/µm, significant increase of the conductivity (i.e., decrease of the insulating performance) has not been observed. Further examination with higher irradiation damage levels and higher electrical field strengths are planned to be performed. The applicability of Y2O3 coatings to the liquid metal blanket systems will be discussed from the relation between the irradiation damage levels and insulating performance.
