This research aims to improve the safety and cooling performance of the vessel cooling system (VCS) of the Gas Turbine High Temperature Reactor 300 for Cogeneration (GTHTR300C). Experiments were conducted using a vertical rectangular channel that simulated the channel of the VCS. Experiments were conducted by inserting thin metal wires into the channel as porous materials to investigate the effect of natural convection of air on heat removal performance. As a result, it was confirmed that inserting porous materials improved the performance of heat removal.
