The very-small reactor “MoveluXTM” is being developed by Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation to improve safety and maintainability in cooling the reactor core. To achieve this aim, we are considering using a concentric-tube thermosyphon for heat transportation, which is less prone to breakdown due to passive operation through heating and having a smaller volume than a loop thermosyphon. However, there is little information about the flow pattern when changing the shape of the tube or the heating condition. Therefore, we visualize the flow inside the tube when changing the heating condition using the apparatus of the concentric-tube two-phase thermosyphon.
