Following the discharge of ALPS treated water, public opinion polls showed a significant reduction in concerns about the impact on seafood and other products, and no harm from misinformation. A web survey showed that people heard about safety mainly from television and interpreted the news reports as "there was no safety problem". It was suggested that news reports of China's opposition led to an understanding of Japan's view that the treated water was safe.
