Uranium nitride has been researched as one of the candidates for fuels of advanced light water reactor including small module reactor since it has good properties for nuclear fuels attributed to its high uranium density and thermal conductivity. However, its high reactivity with steam and water is known as a drawback when using for light water reactors. In previous research, the uranium nitride sample with carbon additive tended to show higher resistance to steam oxidation than non-additive one. In this research, uranium nitride samples differed in the addition amount of carbon were applied to steam oxidation tests. The test result showed that the amount of carbon doped to uranium nitride tended to have little effect on the reactivity with steam.
