After the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant accident, air dose rate monitoring has been conducted by various organizations using methods such as airborne, driving, and walking surveys. The distribution of air dose rates has been utilized for the establishment of evacuation zones. On the other hand, the national policy for the lifting of evacuation orders needs exposure assessment and radiation protection based on individual exposure doses. There are methods for assessing exposure doses such as direct measurement using dosimeters and simulation. In this presentation, as an example of these methods, the external dose assessment method based on the monitoring data of air dose rate is introduced. The application of this method to the local community is also presented.
