In the molten salt reactor using molten chloride salts as a liquid nuclear fuel, it is important to control corrosion of the structural materials at the interface between the molten salt and the structural material. In this presentation, to reveal the effect of 4f elements (NdCl3, SmCl3, GdCl3, EuCl3, YbCl3, etc.) to the corrosion behaviors of Hastelloy as a candidate of the structural material, we carried out systematic corrosion analysis based on measuring electrochemical impedance and polarizability, and high temperature Raman spectroscopy.
