The modular construction method used by JGC Global for some of its plants allows plant equipment to be manufactured in locations that are better equipped and staffed than the construction site, making it easier to anticipate risks and take countermeasures and reducing the on-site construction period by reducing the workload at the construction site. In order to improve competitiveness, JGC Global is considering the application of the modular construction method to the NuScale VOYGRTM reactor building , and this paper explains the feasibility of the building modules under consideration in terms of structural strength and the technical issues involved in on-site construction.
