Currently, decommissioning of various nuclear facilities is planned and implemented, but there is little accumulation of knowledge about the dismantling methods of the facilities. Therefore, it will be beneficial for future decommissioning plans to establish dismantling methods for the large radioactive waste tanks installed in most nuclear facilities. In this study, we carried out dismantling processes by mechanical and fusion cutting methods for six large radioactive waste tanks that were decided to be decommissioned at the NSRI, and compared and examined the processing time, cost, etc. associated with these methods. Also, we conducted dismantling process by fusion cutting method after removing the lining material, and compared the changes for mechanical cutting method in processing time, cost, etc.
