[1L09]Corrosion characteristics of 316L austenitic steel under tensile stress loadings in liquid Sn at 573 K and 773 K

Liquid metal tin (Sn) is a candidate coolant of liquid divertor concepts but its chemical compatibility with structural materials is one of the important issues. Especially in steels, corrosions due to the formation of Fe-Sn IMCs in liquid Sn were confirmed. The corrosion tests under tensile stress loadings in liquid LiPb alloy was performed with C-ring specimens made of 316L austenitic steel in the previous study, and the corrosion was mitigated due to the Cr-rich layer induced by the tensile stress. The purpose of this study is to clarify the corrosion behaviour in liquid Sn under tensile stress loadings. The corrosion tests were performed in liquid Sn with tensile stress of 100 MPa and 200 MPa at 573K and 773K.
