Chromatography is one of the isotope separation techniques for the high concentration of lithium-6 required for the fusion reactor blanket. The adsorbent used in this method has a large height equivalent to a theoretical plate (HETP), which makes the adsorption column necessary for the separation long and thus reduces the feasibility of the method. In this study, a phenolic resin containing the cyclic compound benzo15 crown 5 was synthesized in the pores of porous silica with an average particle size of 60 μm, and the HETP was shortened. A chromatography experiment was performed by passing a lithium solution through the adsorption column to form an adsorption zone, and the effluent was sampled to measure the isotope ratios. The value of 1.2 was obtained as separation factor.
