Liquid metals are candidate coolants for fusion reactors, but liquid metals have the issue of corroding materials. FeCrAl alloys form a protective α-Al2O3 layer on the surface to improve corrosion resistance. However, Al-containing materials have bad weldability and processability. Additive Manufactured (AM) technology enables to fabricate complex shapes without welding procedure. To promote the uniform formation of protective Al2O3 layer, a free Ni FeCrAl alloys containing 6wt% Al was formed with AM. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of AM FeCrAl alloys oxide layer. The oxide layer performed through pre-oxidation was investigated for its stability and protective behavior.
