[2A03] Potential to Broaden the Public's Responsibility of the High-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Site Issue.Analysis of Newspaper Reports on Municipalities Accepting Literature Surveys

Selecting a disposal site for high-level radioactive waste is proceeding in accordance with the law. NUMO has been holding explanatory meetings throughout Japan in order to increase the number of municipalities interested in final disposal. So far, three municipalities have accepted the literature survey. Two of these municipalities have voluntarily accepted, saying that they hope more municipalities will become interested in final disposal and raise their hands. However, the number of municipalities interested in final disposal has not increased. In this study, we focus on “awareness of the parties concerned” and “merits of accepting the literature survey” in each of the activities involved, examine measures to improve the current situation based on DB analysis of newspaper articles.
