During the retrieval of fuel debris at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, colloidal alpha radionuclides may exist in stagnant water. When removing these colloidal alpha nuclides using powder adsorbents in adsorption tank systems, it is necessary to remove out the powder adsorbents from the system. In this study, we evaluated the performance of selected solid-liquid separation technologies for powder adsorbents through elemental tests. Based on the results, we proposed a conceptual system configuration for solid-liquid separation systems applicable at Fukushima Daiichi.
