Options for stabilization, pretreatment, waste form production, storage, and disposal of ALPS slurry were systematically investigated. At present, ALPS slurry is stored in HICs in a water-containing state. Stabilization can be achieved by dewatering, and the filter press method was selected as the treatment option. For waste form production, the following options were examined: low-temperature processes (cement solidification and AAM solidification), high-temperature processes (vitrification), and encapsulation in a disposal container (without solidification). The radioactivity inventory of the waste forms was estimated based on the material balance for each option, and disposal classifications were examined. Based on previous preliminary safety assessments for disposal, the resulting waste forms are expected to correspond to near-surface disposal (pit disposal) or intermediate-depth disposal.
