For the ALPS slurry Individual Waste Stream Option Proposals developed by integrating processing and disposal option proposals, waste characteristics and their uncertainties, technical feasibility of processing and disposal, disposal safety, and technical issues were evaluated. Based on this evaluation, feasible Individual Waste Stream Option Proposals were identified and classified into three categories:
(1) those for which safety can be ensured using established processing and disposal technologies based on conservative waste characterization;
(2) those for which characterization has progressed, and bimodal radioactivity concentration distributions have been confirmed, but processing feasibility or technical issues remain; and
(3) those with no proven track record but potential to simplify processing and disposal while ensuring safety if technology development succeeds.
