In measurements of the energy spectra of charged particles emitted following muon nuclear capture, especially in the low-energy region where evaporation processes make a significant contribution, thin targets are required because of the short ranges of charged particles in target material. In this study, we are developing a method to measure emitted charged particles while suppressing their energy loss in the target by stopping low-momentum negative muons from J-PARC MLF in the target surface. This method is expected to enable measurements using bulk targets, which have been difficult with conventional approaches. In this presentation, we will present the results of a measurement using a copper target and discuss the effectiveness of the method and its prospects for future applications.
