Respiratory pathophysiology through the lens of mitochondrial inner membrane regulators

Mitochondria are dynamic intracellular organelles that autonomously undergo cycles of fusion and fission, maintaining cellular homeostasis through selective autophagic degradation (mitochondrial dynamics). Recent advances in pathobiology have spotlighted mitochondrial dynamics for their pivotal role in orchestrating cellular responses, including apoptosis and differentiation. By modulating metabolic pathways, these processes significantly influence cellular and organismal fate. This symposium will delve into the adaptive responses of mitochondria to extracellular signals, focusing on how mitochondria alter their morphology and metabolism to influence cellular functions in adult tissues.
