Development of single-molecule liquid biopsy platform for detection of pancreatic tumor form proteoform-level protein functional alterations

With drastic changes in our living environment due to emergence of new infectious diseases or digital transformations, diseases and disorders are becoming increasingly complex. In order to contribute to the early treatment of diseases, there is a demand for the development of high-resolution detection techniques and quantitative measurement techniques that lead to the discovery of novel disease-related factors, as well as technologies that dramatically increase their throughput and various information technologies. Additionally, it is necessary to develop and enhance a suite of technologies for analyzing and identifying target molecules for medical applications through the identification of metabolites, proteins, and metabolic pathways affected by known bioactive compounds. Against this backdrop, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) launched the pioneering field of "Creation of Innovative Medical Foundation Technologies Based on Analysis of Metabolites in Diseases and Metabolic Control" (fiscal years 2013-2018). Research efforts have been directed towards the conceptual validation of human disease control based on target molecules within the body, which can serve as targets for medical applications, primarily led by young researchers. This symposium aims to introduce unique cutting-edge research technologies and achievements born from this field of research and to foster new organic collaborations.
