The 19th International Symposium on Water-Rock Interaction (WRI-19) will be held from June 20 to 27, 2027, at the Beijing Conference Center (BCC) in Beijing, China, with the China University of Geosciences (Beijing) serving as the host institution. WRI-19 will be jointly organized with the 16th International Symposium on Applied Isotope Geochemistry (AIG-16) as part of the 4th International Association of GeoChemistry Conference (IAGC-4). Accordingly, the official designation of the meeting is WRI-19/AIG-16 (IAGC-4).
At present, 31 parallel sessions have been planned, covering a broad range of topics in water-rock interaction, hydrogeochemistry, isotope geochemistry, environmental geochemistry, and related fields.A Mid-Session Field Trip is scheduled for June 23, during which participants may choose from five different excursions. These include visits to hydrogeological research facilities as well as several renowned geological and cultural sites, such as the Great Wall of China, Shihua Cave (Stone Flower Cave), and the Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site. In addition, several Short Courses before the conference and Post-Session Field Trips after the conference are being organized, providing participants with valuable opportunities to explore the geology, hydrogeology, and geochemistry of China while fostering scientific connections.
As of July 2026, Japanese citizens may enter China without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, business, family visits, or transit. However, participants are advised to make appropriate preparations before departure. These include considering the installation of a VPN service, as access to some internet services is restricted in China, and setting up widely used mobile payment applications.
