[E-11-02]How to predict solar flares: Challenge to advanced space weather forecasting
*Kanya Kusano1 (1. Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University)
Solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which are large-scale explosive phenomena occurring in the sun, affect the global environment, human activities in space, and various social infrastructures. Therefore, predicting solar flares is essential not only for the research of solar-terrestrial science and also for disaster prevention. This lecture will explain advanced solar flare prediction's current status and future challenges.
