Particulate methane monooxygenases(pMMO) from methanotrophs can catalyze methane oxidation to methanol. In our previous study, a photoinduced methane oxidation reaction system was constructed by reconstitution of purified photosystem II (PSII) from thermophilic cyanobacteria into the membrane fraction containing pMMO. Light irradiation on this reaction system, the electrons obtained from water catalyzed by PSII are transferred to pMMO, and photoinduced methane oxidation was achieved. In this study, we constructed a photoinduced oxidation system using liposomes reconstituted with pMMO and PSII. The photoinduced methane oxidation using the liposome system showed more efficient than that using the previous system.
