The discovery of high-performance and low-cost co-catalysts as well as the understanding of their roles in the polymerization process offer compelling potential for developing new catalyst systems. Here, we designed a series of halogen/oxygen-modified MAO and internal electron-donor inserted MgCl2-based co-catalysts, and subsequently investigated their performance in olefin polymerization catalyzed by nickel-based catalysts. The addition of these modified co-catalysts resulted in variations in polymer molecular weight, melting point, and catalytic activity to different extents. We will elucidate and report on the polymerization catalysis under different systems, laying a foundation for the effective control and preparation of polyolefins with specific microstructure.
