The dependence of CO2 methanation characteristics on the amount of process gas was evaluated using a spiral-type Ni-based structured catalyst and compared with honeycomb and granular catalysts. For both the honeycomb and granular catalysts, an increase in gas volume caused a rise in catalyst layer temperature and a decrease in CH4 selectivity. In contrast, the spiral catalyst maintained excellent CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity even under high gas flow conditions, due to its high heat transfer properties and the enhanced material and heat diffusion resulting from the swirl flow effect.
