Over the past year, the Japan Petroleum Institute has organized a "Working Group for Investigation of Japan Petroleum Institute's New Way" consisting mainly of members in their 30s to 50s to consider what the society should be like, including its purpose and name. The WG has been considering the activities that should be carried out, the organizational restructuring required for that, and a name that is appropriate for the new activities. Having confirmed that the importance of petroleum will remain unchanged even in a future in which carbon neutrality is aimed and achieved, discussions are underway to expand activities to the sustainable supply of energy and chemical resources.
