In refineries and petrochemical plants, fuel gas accounts for approximately 60% of all fuels, including heavy oil and coal. Fluctuations in the properties of fuel gas affect CO2 emissions. Factors that cause fluctuations in properties include fluctuations in the operation rate of each plant due to changes in product demand and plant troubles. Fluctuations in average molecular weight of 20-30 % can be seen even in the same factory, and even larger differences can be seen between different factories. This paper introduces a tool that digitizes the properties of gas moving in the fuel gas header from grasps of the properties at the inlet of each source. It also makes it possible to accurately calculate not only CO2 emissions rate but also the furnace efficiency of heating furnaces online.
