Accurate prediction of CO2 migration and reservoir characterization are essential for the successful implementation of CCS projects. In this study, an Invasion Percolation-based simulator was developed to efficiently predict CO2 migration behavior by considering capillary pressure and buoyancy effects. Furthermore, an inverse modeling approach combining the simulator with the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) was proposed to estimate reservoir permeability distributions from CO2 saturation observations. Numerical experiments were conducted to evaluate the proposed method, demonstrating its potential for efficient history matching with reduced computational costs compared to conventional reservoir simulation approaches.
