A two-stage amplifier using two FEA-based vacuum transistors was constructed and the static characteristics and frequency characteristics of the amplifier were investigated. A maximum total voltage gain of 18 dB, as designed, was obtained. Although the output of the 2nd stage was dependent upon the load, the output of the 1st stage remained unchanged regardless of the load value. Computer simulation with modeled vacuum transistors reproduced the present experimental results.
