Semiconductor gas sensors using SnO2 can detect combustible gases based on the reaction of the gases on the surface of the particles. The morphology of the particles influences the surface reaction, which affects the sensor performance. Thus, we synthesized SnO2 nanoparticles and nanorods, and we evaluated the surface reaction of VOC gases and electrical properties. Accordingly, we clarify the effect of the particle’s morphology based on the exposed face of metal oxide on the surface reaction and sensor performance.
