Semiconductor metal oxides (SMOXs) are widely used in gas sensors because of their low cost, ease of production, and high sensitivity to several harmful gases. The detection mechanism of SMOXs is based on the changes in their electrical resistance that result from the adsorption and reactions of certain gases on their surface. In this study, our objective was to determine the CO detection mechanism of SnO2, which was loaded with Pd to reduce the operating temperature requirement. AC response measurements were coupled with diffuse reflectance IR Fourier transform spectroscopy to investigate the interaction between Pd-loaded SnO2 and CO under different temperatures conditions.
