The Pomacea canaliculata is an invasive species that feeds on paddy crops, is known as common name "Jumbo Tanishi" and is inhabited mainly in western Japan. In recent years, the damage has become apparent again due to an increase in the overwintering rate associated with global warming and the expansion of its distribution into uninvaded areas. We have investigated by collecting the snails electrically, without the use of manpower or chemical agents. In this paper, we report on the development of a prototype control device of the snail and its effectiveness in rice paddy fields.
