Naphthalene diimide derivatives having two, one or no vinyl terminal groups were synthesized and the characteristics of their vapor-deposited films were compared. With adding the polymerizable terminal units, the surface smoothness was improved and morphology change by coagulation was suppressed. On the other hand, the conductivity of the film substantially decreased by adding the polymerizable terminal units. It is considered that the polymerization reaction improves film stability while decreasing the film conductivity owing to amorphization.
