The deposition of Bi-substituted rare earth iron garnets requires a heat treatment process at high temperatures, which makes it impossible to use base materials that are vulnerable to thermal loading. Therefore, we are developing a deposition method for Bi-substituted rare earth iron garnets by excimer-laser assisted MOD, which can form thin film crystals with a low thermal load on the substrate. In the present study, to analyze the garnet crystallization process during excimer-laser assisted MOD, we measured the change in reflectance of the sample during laser irradiation.
