The P/L reaction is for synthesizing ammonia through the reaction of discharge-activated nitrogen and water. We already have clarified that atomic nitrogen, which is highly reactive among nitrogen active species, contributes to the improvement of ammonia production and selectivity. In this study, argon was added to discharge-activated nitrogen, aiming to increase the amount of atomic nitrogen produced by the Penning effect, and the reaction mechanism of ammonia formation was investigated.
